Organic Fruits

We grow approximately 60 hectares of organics in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire in the UK and in Hermanus South Africa. Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries, Blueberries, Cherries. Our aim annually is to grow 110% of the daily demand of all the UK supermarkets. In recent years we have produced too much, which is an unprofitable error. We distribute to almost every depot in the UK every night from May - November, and for organic raspberries will in 2009 be able to do this every week of the year. In 2006 we won the Soil Association Bronze Award for Organic Farm of the Year for the UK, and Silver for Best Product which was for our strawberries. We find the biggest challange of organics is to be able to use only natural fertilisers.

Conventional Raspberries

Where we used to grow a wider variety of conventional crops, in recent years we have focused upon trying to become experts on scale at one. Raspberries suited our soil conditions.. and were our preference for being the most feminine of berry crops. Rewarding of love and care, but rapidly humbling if you become distracted from giving it! We grow now approximately 80 hectares producing year round, applying many of the techniques learnt from growing organically. We mainly grow proprietary varieties that have been developed by Driscolls in California, which we think are substantially better than others.
